Quote: "I’ve been called a bi$&@ before! It doesn’t move me."
I’ve learned that sometimes we love, hire, and deal with ungrateful people. Sometimes they’re not thinking twice about their actions, temporary desires, or they have no control of their unwarranted temper tantrums. Nowadays we have a few folks who don’t understand the essence of respectful communication. The text messages may keep things in perspective until we have a conversation at the right time. We then will have learned that there has been blurred lines in many instances. Some of us lack integrity with our loved ones, employers, colleagues, etc. The entrepreneurial/leading woman has to some how maintain her grace, not act emotionally, be fair, expect/demand excellence from herself and her team, write a check for hardworking people and maybe ungrateful people, and then deal with complaining from slow growing or stagnant people. We may even believe in people more than they believe in themselves. We hire people who have chatter behind our backs when knowing that you’ve been generous to them. We love men who need mentors and don’t know how to communicate with a graceful woman. Let alone, don’t like to be taught how to love a woman. Yet we remain loyal to them when you can walk in a room full of other men who would love the ground you walk. How to do you maintain sanity?
Ignore Child Like Behavior
People who don’t know the difference between career moves and money moves are not ready to work hard and THEN play hard. They usually come in already ready to take vacations when not having proven their work ethic. They may often have “fluctuating attitudes.” People who aren’t clear of their purpose may have the potential to leave. Quick resume’ builders like to dibble and dabble to name drop fast. Don’t bank on potential and don’t hold them at fault for simply not knowing what they want to do. You’ve been in this space before. Sometimes the hat of being a female entrepreneur is like playing mother/big sister to some you hire. Draw the line and keep a balance.
2. Have A Sounding Board
Ask outsiders about your reasoning. Don’t be afraid to be told that you’re wrong and their right. Accept fault and responsibility for your actions. Make the necessary adjustments. These are growing lessons for you, the betterment of your company, and a self sufficient team. You’ll later have peace with accepting your areas of improvement and will love having being able to walk away from situations with integrity. Sifting and discerning will be successful for you.
3. Understand That People Will Leave You
Prepare your heart or get some tough skin. There are some decisions that you will have to make and decisions that they will have to make. Not every connection is for a lifetime. Some are seasonal and may only last a few weeks. The last thing you want to do is know the dream that God has given you, and one of you hold each other hostage of moving forward just because they’re not equipped or assigned to that next level. This is both for work and for love. Sometimes God takes away what we aren’t giving up. I’d actually prefer He do that.
4. The Employer and The Employee Have Great Differences
Understand that the person writing the check has different ways of thinking. There are only a few that you may work with who may understand you. They won’t understand certain decisions that you’ll make when it’s your money they’re spending or that’s covering a budget. However, Love and understanding should come from the intimate/personal relationship not always from the business relationship. Knowing the difference allows us to not get our feelings hurt when dealing with people who may only be in it for the moment and not to grow. They’d understand it better when it’s their money. Don’t feel the need to explain yourself all of the time in order to be nice. Be like NeNe Leakes, “I said what I said!” Make the decision and keep it moving. Your integral way of doing things and how you treat others should give you peace that you’re doing just fine.
5. Stay Sane
Do whatever it takes to not lose your mind. Don’t rush love. Don’t let social media rush your process. Remember we only post what we want people to see, not the whole story. Have time to retreat and be with God. He’ll give you answers on how to move and who to move. Make sure you have family and friends so that if you have children, you can play hooked and have a quick moment to yourself. It’s necessary! You will be rewarded for your sacrifices and generosity. However, the rewards may not come from those you’ve given the most to. As my Daddy Would day, “Hang In There!”
Scriptures To Consider:
Colossians 1:29
For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.
1 Thessalonians 4:11
and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands, just as we commanded you,
2 Timothy 2:15
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.
1 Timothy 3:1
It is a trustworthy statement: if any man aspires to the office of overseer, it is a fine work he desires to do.
Hebrews 10:35-36
Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.
