“Things will happen little by little”. This is how God dealt with the children of Israel. Once I learned the characteristics of God, that’s when I understood Him better. Though He is supernatural, and can do anything, He’s into a developmental process because there are lots of other things to consider. He makes rational decisions. There are lessons that we must learn in order for us to not repeat the same mistakes in the Promised Land.
Have you ever had to repeat the same lesson over and over again? If you didn’t, I did. I know it gets frustrating, but the lesson must be revisited until we get it! God has had me repeat a class so many times, that I had gotten sick of myself. For some lessons, it wasn’t even only a class. It was a semester, or even a whole grade. Half the time, it wasn’t God taking me through the lessons again, it was my bad choices taking me back through it.
Very often, I’d look at others and wonder why I was hitting a ceiling. So, to ensure that I was on task and up by the next one, I begin doing things that God wouldn’t do. I called myself filling in for God. Excuse my vernacualr but, “Where the do that at?” In result, I found myself in a financial bind, have wasted time, gotten my heart broken, or the usual things that could happen when stepping out of God’s will or by simply being in a hurry. When we are in a hurry on the road, in our cars, accidents happen along the way because we are only focused on the destination and not the traffic, bad driver on the road, or the cops waiting to stop us.
As a dog returns to his vomit, so a fool returns to his folly.
Some things we revisit because we are in a silly place. I learned to no longer compare myself to others because it wasn’t the wisest things to do. We often only see the good parts of someone else’s process.
Scriptures to Consider:
But I will not drive them out in a single year, because the land would become desolate and the wild animals too numerous for you.
Little by little I will drive them out before you, until you have increased enough to take possession of the land.
